Lilly Belle: 13 Months

Now that Miss Lilly Belle is 13 months, I've decided to do her monthly posts a bit differently. I am just going to write about new things she has learned & things she experienced. Now that she is no longer a "baby" but instead a "toddler", some of the things we used to write about don't change as quickly as they used to.

Lilly Belle - 13 Months Old

Social Butterfly
Lilly Belle is definitely our little social butterfly. She continues to wave at everyone-everywhere we go. She now loves to blow kisses and make kissy faces as random people (ex. grocery store or my dr. appt). I started my job working in the kids club at Sammamish Club & she has loved that so much. It's been like "school" for her. She plays with all the kids and explores so many new toys each time we go. She loves the other teachers there and has just had a blast. I'm so glad I have this job and that it is something for both of us.

Sweet Summertime
I can't believe our summer is now over :( I had such a hard time the last 2 weeks knowing that now fall is beginning (which is my favorite), but I have to start working more again. I've basically had the whole summer off and found that I love nothing more than being with Lilly Belle all day. We didn't get to accomplish all of the things on our bucket list, but boy did we have fun together! We took a few trips to the zoo, played with friends, went on walks, went swimming, played outside & visited Daddy at work a couple of times. It was short and sweet.

Lilly loves to eat. For a while we were having a really hard time getting her to eat vegetables other than in her pouches or hidden in smoothies, but slowly she is getting better about it. She loves snack time the best because she likes to have freedom to play while she eats. Sitting in her high chair for a meal is just not enough (hmmm...sounds terrifyingly familiar). She has now had everything that we couldn't eat during the first year - strawberries, honey, whole milk & peanut butter. She loves strawberries and honey, but she isn't too thrilled with peanut butter just yet. She has loved when I make her smoothies lately - I usually do milk, yogurt, banana, blueberries & spinach. It is my way of making sure she is for sure getting iron everyday as at her 12 month appointment, her iron was a bit low. She will drink an entire cup of smoothie :) She still loves string cheese, bananas (which she calls Na-nanas), all fruit really, cheddar bunnies, pouches, yogurt her oatmeal cereal in the morning & now honey on waffles or toast. She still isn't doing so great in the milk drinking department, but we're working on it.

Nursing & Sleeping
Lilly Belle still nurses before all of her naps, before she goes to bed, when she wakes up in the morning and sometimes she will wake up around 4:00/4:30am to nurse. I just had my yearly check-up and discovered (well, I wasn't surprised), that I don't really have much milk - she is just nursing for comfort really. I'm okay with that. I know she is still getting something because I still leak every now and then, but I could definitely stop (nutrition-wise) and she would be the same. We are not ready to stop yet; either of us. Every now and then I will try to put her down for nap without nursing her and she freaks out and I don't like it either, so for now we will continue nursing around 4-5 times/day.

Lilly Belle now (usually) takes a longer morning nap and a longer afternoon nap. Sometimes we will still have days with 3 short naps, but she is definitely starting to transition into 2 naps. We have found that the longest she can stay up at a time without freaking out when it is time to go down, is 4 hours.

She still goes to bed every night at 7pm and usually wakes up for the day between 6:15 and 7am. She then goes down for her morning nap about an hour after she wakes up. That nap lasts anywhere from 1-2 hours. Then she takes another nap after or sometimes before lunchtime.

Little Miss Chatterbox
I need to get her that book. Girlfriend is talking up a storm! She is constantly talking. If she isn't talking, it is because she is eating or reading her books. She can say so many words now! It's amazing to me how much she is comprehending, too! We filmed her during bath time the other night and she said, "Princess", "Bath Time", "Pluto" and a few more just clear as could be. Matt and I kept looking at each other in awe. She likes to have conversations with us - and we love it even more! It's adorable. She can almost copy every one & two syllable word we say. Her favorite phrase to say right now is, "What is that?" (Wha-is-da) So much fun!
Other commonly used new words/phrases: Uh Oh, No no no no no, Thank You, Don't want to (in Lilly language)

On The Move
Lilly Belle is not walking just yet, but did take her first few steps this month. She could totally do it. She's so ready. She can walk with Matt and I holding each of our hands and go just as fast as we do. She can run with us if we hold her hands and walk backwards too...she just won't let go! I think she needs to know that she is going to be able to do it well before she will let go. That frightens me a bit because I don't want her to be afraid to fail. We keep saying that she is going to walk anyway now...we'll see...

And now for some fun pictures from Lilly Belle's 13th month :)
(and in no kind of order because 'ain't nobody got time for that'...and also none from my phone because oh boy...there are just too many right now. another day.)

We went to lunch at Daddy's work and had a minute to shoot some hoops.

Some nights Lilly will stand here at the window waiting for Daddy to get home.

We had cupcakes a cute little place Downtown Olympia with Daddy, Nana & Uncle Chris.

Lilly Belle helped Mommy make sweet potato muffins - yum!

We do this a lot...emptying out the diaper bag.

Being cute!

Her eyes...

And sometimes...we now throw tantrums.

We like to hang out in our tent and snuggle with all our 'friends'.

And sometimes we practice taking a few steps...

"Who says this cool bed has to be for my dolls??" (does this almost everyday)

Watching Toy Story & eating some veggies.

She sits like this all the time!

Celebrating her birthday at her 1st birthday party!

Loves the American Girl doll store! She is obsessed with babies.

My Best Friend's Wedding

I did not get nearly as many pictures as I wanted to but the day went by so quickly that I even forgot to video tape at the reception and that was what I wanted to give them as a gift :( boo.

One of my best friends, Micol, got married on September 6th and I got to be her Maid of Honor. It was the first time Lilly Belle had been to a wedding and Grandma & Grandpa Hampe took good care of her for the day while I was busy with my duties ;)

Lilly Belle with her Grandma & Grandpa Hampe (my parents) - she's looking unsure. She's never been away from me that long and she'd only met my parents 3 (my mom) & 2 (my dad) times before this and one of those was with my mom at 3 weeks old and then one of the times at 4 months old. So...she was a little nervous. As was I for her. But it all worked out just fine.

Lilly Belle being smashed between 2 crazies! Me and my childhood BFF, Andrea.

Her dress! Micky picked it out :)

Being silly with Grandpa at dinner

Finally letting Auntie Jenna hold her! :) Another of my childhood and still to this day BFF's

The beautiful bride! Lilly was calling her, "Princess" ;)

Grand March :)

Ha! They had me cracking up!

So happy for these two!! These two were together for 7 years before this day...they are so in love!

LB playing with Auntie Micky's new nieces

...and dancing - of course ;)

Me pointing at her and I remember telling her, "You better not walk while Daddy isn't here!"

"Mom, chill. I know. I won't do it!"...and she didn't. She walked a few days after we got home. Good girl.

Fell asleep on me around 9pm and I danced for hours with her sleeping on me. It was fun to still get to spend time with my friends even with her. Thank goodness for the Ergo!

I soaked in every second of those snuggles!

BFFs since 6th grade & 3rd grade!

Smooches from Auntie Jenna - of course ;) Such a good Auntie!!

Baby break for a dance with the bride. A little "Bridesmaids" re-enactment!

We are always laughing :)

Got Lilly Belle in her pjs after a diaper change and we made it until 11:38pm. Only left 22 min early. Pretty proud of my sweet girl for being such a trooper. Also...her Daddy and I are pretty pumped she can do that because it means we don't have to leave Disney early every night on our trip & that she can go into the nursery at night while we go dancing on the Disney Cruise LOL.

The year flew by leading up to their wedding!! I'm so happy for them and excited to see what the future holds for the two of them :)

Changes, Goals, Family Updates :)

Now that Lilly Belle is one and we are feeling, "Kind of" settled and like we have things under control, we have been talking a lot lately about how we can improve...how can we make life even better for Lilly Belle, ourselves and each other. We are both registered to begin another quarter of school that will begin in a few weeks. We want to make sure that we continue to stay on top of things and stay on this path we are heading down together.

CHANGES WE'RE MAKING
-Matt works out & showers every night before bed
-Dishes are in the dishwasher after dinner instead of late at night or the next morning
-I am going to wake up every morning at 5:30am to get myself ready for the day and take time for myself to have a cup of coffee, EAT (I never eat), listen to my music & get Lilly's breakfast and lunch ready for the day.
-I am going to shower at night so that Matt can leave earlier for work in the morning and come home earlier too then. Lilly only associates Matt with morning nap and bedtime right now and it hasn't been so nice for their relationship - lots of screaming for mommy and baby girl clinging to me.
-No eating past 8pm
-Grocery shop together on the weekend so I don't have to go with Lilly so much and we can do more together... like park dates :)
-I'm going to go to bed between 10 & 11pm (depending on homework)

BIG GOALS
-Matt and I are both working toward our Bachelor degrees right now. Matt will graduate in 2 years & I am taking my time by taking just 2 classes to focus on my #1 job title...Mommy!
-We are working towards Matt working a full-time job instead of contract & for me to be able to just work 5 hours/week. Enough to get out and dance, but I need my time with my baby...won't get that back. (This goal & Matt graduating are #1 on our list right now)
-We are working towards buying our first home right now. Our goal is to start that process within the next year...so far, so good. We are getting all the credit/savings in order right now and so far things are going really well and moving up!
-We do want more babies...(I say babies, Matt says baby...as in one), but not anytime in the immediate future. There is lots to focus on right now and we like where our life is going with Lilly Belle. We also really love our life as a little family of 3. Again...for now ;)

It feels good to write it out. I haven't blogged about anything like this in a while and I feel like when I write about it, it feels even more set.

PS...Lilly Belle REALLY started walking yesterday. 10 steps! The stinker still won't do it on video, but she can most definitely walk. It's so funny to turn around and see her just standing there. Matt and I still can't stop laughing when we see her just standing in the middle of the room. I keep telling her to "stop it!" ;) She's still such a peanut so it's hilarious to watch her walk.

PSS...Took Lilly Belle to the doctor a few days ago for her way-too-long lasting diaper rash and that's almost gone now and huge exciting news...the Dr. said it was a mistake when they thought she was in the 11th percentile and so worried about her. She is actually in the 24th and 25th percentile for her height in weight. So, just a mistake, unless that changed over the past few weeks because I'm constantly feeding her in worry of her being too little... ;)

PSSS...Lilly Belle has been wearing her Mickey ears all around the house. Matt FREAKS out about it. Like when I thought it would be funny to put them on Cogsy and he nearly killed me. Lilly thought it was funny ;) She wakes up from nap and its the first thing she wants. Pointing at her ears, "Minn-ay! Minn-ay! Minn-ay!" (Her ears are most definitely Mickey but these days anything Disney...including the famous Disney font, is "Minn-ay!" to LB. She's so awesome :) I love her so much!

Favorite Disney Etsy Finds!

We are getting so excited about our trip to Walt Disney World followed by a 7-night Disney Caribbean Cruise with our family! When we get there, it will have been 6 years since we've been back. And today is our 6 year dating anniversary. Yay us! ;)

Here are my favorite Etsy finds lately...

Queen Elizabeth Aprons makes the cutest sewing patterns for Disney Princesses! I want to make all of them. I have a slight apron obsession as it is, so these are just too much cuteness!

Lilly Belle loves "Doc" from Doc McStuffins! I am so excited for her to meet her at our character breakfast we have booked at Hollywood N Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

This adorable shirt is from Adorable Divas & Lovable Lads. This shop has the cutest embroidered Disney t's!

Matt and I both love this shirt as well for Lilly Belle. We could definitely have her wear it outside of our WDW trip & it's adorable how it's so girlie.

This top is from The Pink Daisy Boutique. You can get long sleeve or short sleeve which is nice, too.

This is an iron-on transfer that is downloadable from Digital Wishes. Matt agreed that I need this ;)  For $5.00 and I can put it on any t-shirt I want...sounds good to me! And because I don't grow a mile a minute like Miss Lilly Belle, I'll definitely get to wear it again.

We are pretty pumped to decorate our door on the cruise! And since we are going to be there the week before Christmas, we might as well go all out!

This downloads as well and can be made into a t-shirt (which would also be super cute) or for a door magnet! The shop is called, Two by Tutu Creations. Lots of cute downloadable Disney items! Again, just $5.00!

Matt and I both really love these next two items! This shop has THE cutest door decorations. It was so hard to decide which ones we liked. The shop is called, Hair Majesty Boutique. Love it all!

We want the elf because Christmas elves will forever be special to our family since that is who I played in the Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade in 2008. Love this little guy!

Now this one...how could we not. This is again an iron-on transfer, so I'd love to make one for each of us. So awesome! And...so true! This shop is called Fantasy Printables, and this iron-on costs just $2.98!

I don't really own that much Disney apparel surprisingly, so...that needs to change. This shop has some adorable pocket t's. I love the Minnie ones for our Disney trips, and this anchor tank way cute. I love it for hanging out by the pool...or the ocean! This shop is called P.S. Blessed

Mickey inspired dress! The little bow, sleeves and buttons are perfect. Lilly Belle would look so cute frolocking all around Disney in this! (Yes, frolocking...Like Snow White.)
This shop has such great Disney inspired dresses. Again, hard to choose. Classic Mickey is great for how little she is though. I don't want to choose princesses for her, we'll see who she likes the most when she's bigger. This shop is called, Jessica Inspired Boutique.

Love this! Definitely getting this one :)

I was thinking this would be fun to get for LB. She can have the characters sign it and then bring it with us on all of our Disney vacations. If she is anything like me, she will be on a lifelong mission to get her book...I mean pillowcase, filled with every character! :) Fun!

We bought this for Lilly Belle. It will be her Halloween costume this year, she will wear it for our character breakfast at Hollywood N Vine where she will meet characters from Jake & the Neverland Pirates and she will also wear it for Pirates in the Caribbean night on the ship. $40 well spent if you ask me... ;)

My child has to have this...for obvious reasons.
I am going to make her a little outfit with this for our day we are spending at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

And now...for a few of my own creations. I've spiced up my Etsy shop a little to get into the Disney spirit even more.
